Planet Rock is all about climbing. Our classes and instructional clinics are designed to elevate your climbing experience by improving technique, strength, knowledge and flexibility. Classes fit a wide range of climbing levels and abilities; learn the basics of rock climbing, including belaying and technique.or progress into more advanced skills such as anchor building, technique and transitioning to climbing outdoors. Let us help you get ready for your next climbing adventure!


CLIMBING 101
Participants must have already gone through a Starter Package lesson and know how to belay prior to taking this class. Climbing 101 is a great review for current climbers and a great introduction for beginning climbers ages 14 and older. Stretches are designed with climbers in mind, highlighting areas in the shoulders, hips, obliques and hands. Classes cover techniques for effective foot/hand placement as well as identifying different types of holds. If you are newer to climbing or are at a 5.6-5.8 level, this is a great class for you. All Climbing 101 classes are free with a gym membership or purchased gym day pass.

ICE CLIMBING 101
MADISON HEIGHTS: Thursdays;  NOV 29    DEC 20   |  6:00-8:00pm
Learn techniques for smooth and natural ice climbing movements, how to best use tools and crampons, as well as methods for climbing and belaying on ice. Try out your new-found skills while climbing the telephone poles and special dry-tooling routes! All Ice Climbing 101 classes are free with a gym membership or purchased gym day pass.

Participants must know how to belay prior to class and be able to climb 5.9 (or above) routes.

• BAD GIRLS CLUB

After-hours climbing for women only! Instructors are on hand to guide technique, answer questions or help you try something new. Become a part of our amazing climbing community! All ability levels welcome, ages 16+

Warrior’s Way training addresses falling directly to help improve commitment. Develop a progressive falling practice, followed by movement, breathing, resting and body/mind awareness exercises. Apply learned skills to a goal route, leaving with a deeper understanding of how to take appropriate risks and how to commit to those risks. Diminish your fear and focus on meeting your climbing goals! For top rope or lead climbers. Limited spaces available.
*If leading during this class, climbers must be lead-belay checked with Planet Rock PRIOR to clinic. 



GYM TO CRAG

Are you climbing 5.10s comfortably and are lead-belay certified? Ever think about climbing outdoors? This is the perfect time to learn (or refresh) with professional training on skills needed to climb outside. Our Gym to Crag class is an overview of what you need to know to climb safely on simple pre-bolted single-pitch sport routes. For more information, refer to our Gym To Crag section.

Planet Rock lead classes will teach you everything you need to know about lead climbing and lead belaying. Lead lessons take 2 days to complete; 1 day for the lesson, 1 day for a lead-check the next time you climb. For class availability and information, refer to our Lead Lessons section.
