Planet Rock is all about climbing. Our classes and instructional clinics are designed to elevate your climbing experience by improving technique, strength, knowledge and flexibility. Classes fit a wide range of climbing levels and abilities; learn the basics of rock climbing, including belaying and technique.or progress into more advanced skills such as anchor building, technique and transitioning to climbing outdoors. Let us help you get ready for your next climbing adventure!

Participants must have already gone through a Starter Package lesson and know how to belay prior to taking this class. Climbing 101 is a great review for current climbers and a great introduction for beginning climbers ages 14 and older. Stretches are designed with climbers in mind, highlighting areas in the shoulders, hips, obliques and hands. Classes cover techniques for effective foot/hand placement as well as identifying different types of holds. If you are newer to climbing or are at a 5.6-5.8 level, this is a great class for you. All Climbing 101 classes are free with a gym membership or purchased gym day pass.

Ice Climbing 101 covers basic skills needed to climb safely and efficiently on vertical top rope ice routes. Learn techniques for smooth and natural ice climbing movements, how to best use tools and crampons, as well as methods for climbing and belaying on ice. Try out your new-found skills while climbing the telephone poles and special dry-tooling routes!
Participants must know how to belay prior to taking this class and be able to climb 5.9 routes. Like all of our 101 classes, Ice Climbing 101 is free with gym membership or day pass.

Learn how to use the gym equipment to train harder and climb stronger! This class provides hands-on instruction in exercises, methods and techniques on equipment such as the hang boards, campus boards, circuit wall and more. Explore how our gym equipment can help train all aspects of your climbing. Whether you’re gearing up to go outside or redpoint a challenging route, this class will teach you how to use the training area with confidence. Take the next step in your climbing practice! If you are climbing 5.9 and are ready to move your climbing into 5.10s, this is the perfect class for you. The ultimate resource to improve your footwork, route reading, grip skills, movement and more. Learn the tips and methods to improve strength, technique and overall climbing ability. Age 16+

Are you climbing 5.10s comfortably and are lead-belay certified? Ever think about climbing outdoors? This is the perfect time to learn (or refresh) with professional training on skills needed to climb outside.
